“YOU MISSED THE TURN, HON. BUT THE GAS STATION MAP SAID WE SHOULD GO EAST”

Ahh, those road trips before the turn of the millennium (pre 2000). Remember those road maps? The problem is I know east, west, north and south but in those days we got lost so many times taking the wrong turns. There would be the arguments with partners, friends, relatives, children when you took the wrong turns. You would blame the early navigator( the person holding the map). Those were fun times. Fast forward to today, we have GPS systems installed in our vehicles and/ or on our phones who “talk” the direction. We have come a long way. What are some of your early experiences with road trips with maps? Have you been lost, ran out of gas because you took the wrong turn.
